This version of the Yaml Language package for Visual Studio 2008 is is now fully supports YAML 1.2. A lot of fairly small spec compliance issues have been resolved, and it's taken the planned dependency on the .NET Dynamic Language Runtime.

As before, Visual Studio 2008 SP1 is a prerequsite for this editor.

Build #12130 fixes some minor problems with indentation highlighting and custom colors.

OK, this Version 0.4 really solves the package load problem. Really. This is a beta release YAML editor based on Visual Studio. It performs syntax highlighting, dynamic error checking, and brace matching.

Before installing YamlEditor.msi, you should make sure you've Visual Studio 2008 SP1 Standard edition or higher. If you don't have VS installed, you can install a limited version for the purposes of using the YAML editor from http://www.yatools.net/vside.enu.exe.

Vote for the Setup Bootstrapper work item if you think better automating the pre-requsites download and install is important.

A prerequisite for yatools.net YAML editor (Version 0.4 beta) is Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 SP1 standard edition or higher. (One of the "Visual Studio Express Edition" packages is not sufficent.)

If you don't have this version of Visual Studio, you can still use the the yatools.net YAML editor by installing the attached file vside.enu.exe. Its a big download, on the order of 180 MB, so don't bother downloading this is you've got the prerequisites already installed.

Thanks to the Visual Studio team for making this available.
